Expériences
I'm a MD (Public Health) as well as a PhD in Biostatistics. I'm currently a full-time post-doctoral researcher within the team and a lecturer in Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Methodology for clinical research in the University of Nantes. My research interests are about the interpretation of Patient-Reported Ouctomes data and the measurement of subjective outcomes (psychometrics). I work on methodological and statistical issues about the detection and measurement of response shift phenomenon. Currently, the main project I'm involved in is about defining and determining the Minimal Clinically Importance Difference (MCID) of a PRO instrument while accounting for response shift occurrence. This is the MIDIPRES project funded by the National Agency for Research (ANR), managed by Jean-Benoit Hardouin (PhD-ScD, Associate Professor of Biostatistics, University of Nantes). In terms of experience, my first university training was starting med-school in the University François-Rabelais of Tours in 2001 as well as a Bachelor degree in Cell and Molecular Biology between 2003 and 2005. Then, I took a break from med-school to pursue a Master Degree in Cognitive Sciences in 2005-2006. This was my first experience in academic research. I did a master internship where I conducted a cross-sectional study on links between personality, psychotrauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (Research team: Inserm U930 "Brain and Imaging" team 4). This study involved conducting semi-structured interviews and administering questionnaires assessing subjective outcomes to patients in order to collect data to quantitatively analyze them. Thus, during this internship, I discovered methodology for clinical research, biostatistics, data analysis and especially psychometrics (through reading the validation papers of the instruments i've used). Therefore, I developed a keen interest about these topics. So, after finishing undergraduate med-school studies, I've decided to pursue a residency in Public-Health in the University Hospital of Nantes to have a strong training about these aspects in parallel of pursuing a Bachelor and Master Degree in Biostatistics and methodology for clinical research (University of Paris-Sud 11). During the first half of my residency, I've worked on in-hospital public health program assessment, population health state assessment (epidemiology of breast cancer in France (incidence and mortality) using cancer registry data and national mortality data), evaluation of the effectiveness of breast cancer systematic screening, genomics clustering of triple-negative breast cancer and as a methodologist and data analyst for various clinical researches. The second half of my residency was devoted to start academic research on PRO data analyses and response shift phenomenon (I joined the team for a first internship in May 2012). I got my MD in 2013 and joined the University of Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC Paris 6) as an Assistant Professor in biostatistics as well as the University hospital of "La Pitié-Salpêtrière" in Paris as a medical fellow (data analyst and methodologist for clinical research). In parallel, I've conducted my PhD Thesis in Biostatistics within the research team on the concept and measurement of response shift phenomenon which was defended in October 2016. The works conducted during the thesis have helped me realize I like to tackle methodological issues, conducting simulation studies and working on conceptual issues at the edge between methodological and theoretical (even epistemological) aspects of psychometrics. I've started my post-doctoral contract in November 2016 (4 years contract).
